5 things you did not know you’d want to bring to Tomteland in Mora
1 – Bathing clothes
If it is a warm summer’s day, your family may want to cool off in Lake Aurora. There’s a small beach right by the Fairy kingdom above the sprawling climbing frame (or the uphill walk, if you are an adult). There are no changing booths though so be prepared to perform your clothes swap in public.
2 – Picnic or barbeque food
You are free – I would almost say encouraged – to bring your own picnic for your meals. There are seating with tables available throughout, outdoor barbeques for your sausages or hamburgers can be found at Mrs Santa’s café and even indoor fireplaces with barbeque grills can be found at the Troll’s cottage and by the Fairy kingdom. You will need to tend your own fire and bring your own matches.
There is of course also a restaurant and a café in the park, more about that in my post on what to expect in Tomteland.

3 – Dress up clothes
You are in a Fairy tale story with immersive Fairy tale worlds! So, if you want to dress up as a fairy, or a witch, dragon elf, pirate, wood spirit or cat, there is no better place for it! My younger son is “definitely going as Super Mario” next time, and I guess Nintendo games are also a sort of fairy tale…
The fairy tale characters are available for a chat, a hug and a photo after the shows and often also just walking around the park, if you want to connect with a “real” version of your dressed up selves.
4 – Seat mat
You will be sitting down outdoors during the day so you may want to bring something to sit on, especially of course during the colder part of the year. The shows are outside with wooden bench seating and as mentioned above you may be sitting outside to eat or while the kids play in some especially magic part of the park. There are seat mats available for a very reasonable cost at the entrance and at the store if you forget.

5 – Mosquito repellent
The park is in the woods, and during mosquito season there will be mozzies! You’ll probably want to bring your choice of patches, armbands, spray or portable mosquito repeller to keep them at bay. Mosquito season around Mora would be most of the summer opening season, mid-June to mid-August.
That was my top five things I think you may not realize you could make good use of for a day or two at Tomteland Fairy kingdom in Mora, Sweden. Let me know if you ended up wishing you had brought something else and I’ll add it to the list!
